Jack Loves His Sword
Jack hits Caleb with the knight’s sword. I intervene & deal with the fall out. This is the conversation we had after the intervention. Remember that Jack is a sweet 2-year-old with a soft, tiny voice that occasionally gets a little growly.
ME: No more sword, Jackie.
JACK: Okay, Mommy. No more sword. (pause) Hey Mommy, how about the sword?
ME: No sword, Jack. You were hitting. No hitting so no sword.
JACK: Well. Hm. Oh, I know. How about the sword?
ME: No.
JACK: A little sword?
ME: No.
JACK: *fake cry* Jackie is sad. How about you give Jackie the sword?
ME: No. No sword. You were hitting. No sword.
JACK: Hitting? With the sword? No. No hitting. (pause) How about… you give Jackie the sword?
ME: No.
JACK: A little bit. A little bit of sword?
ME: No.
JACK: Just to hold it. A little.
ME: No.
JACK: Okay, I NEED TO COLOR!!! I NEED TO COLOR!!!
ME: Okay. What color do you want?
JACK: I want the color… (growly voice) sword.
ME: *raise eyebrow*
JACK: Just a little bit of the color sword. You know, for the paper.
